Job Description: The Business Department of Emmanuel College is seeking an adjunct faculty to teach one section of Practical Machine Learning and/or one section of Programming II and Introduction to Computer Science for the Spring 2027 semester. Both courses are customized to Emmanuel College's curriculum and fully developed. Both courses are a part of the Computer Science major and Data Analytics minor. Practical Machine Learning: The course provides an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning, and Machine Learning (ML). A survey of multiple AI techniques, focusing heavily on ML. Students will learn about the different concepts behind each technique, experiment with interactive demonstrations, assess them for equity and bias, and apply them in their assignments. Techniques may be updated as the fast-moving field of machine learning evolves. This course does not go into extreme depth on ML theory, instead focusing on how to use these techniques to solve problems. The goal of this course is for students to understand what Machine Learning is and is not, and have a "utility belt" of skills and conceptual understanding to allow them to identify a problem, choose an AI technique, and apply it effectively. This course will be held on campus Mondays and Wednesdays 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm. Programming II and Introduction to Computer Science: This course builds on the experience of Introduction to Programming to introduce new ways of thinking via two paradigms: Functional and Object-Oriented programming. After both paradigms have been practiced in turn, the course introduces a new language, Python, to further exercise these ideas and provide a powerful set of tools for students to apply to their final projects. The Big Ideas include new programming concepts, language features, and tools, but also how these features combine in different systems, providing a generalizable foundation for moving forward in computer science. This course will be held on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30 pm - 5:45 pm. Responsibilities include: Teach the assigned course as designed. Assess student performance. Provide assistance and mentorship to students. **Please indicate in your cover letter for which course(s) you are interested in teaching** Requirements: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or a closely related field, relevant professional experience, and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching are required. Additional Information: Emmanuel College values a welcoming and supportive community for all.
