Teaching experience

I have extensive experience designing and delivering professional learning, workshops and development programmes across the NHS, public sector and VCSE sector. My teaching draws on over 20 years of practical experience in health, commissioning, service improvement and system transformation. I have developed learning programmes for commissioners, leaders and transformation teams covering health inequalities, population health, strategic commissioning, systems leadership and organisational change. I have also delivered staff training, facilitated multidisciplinary and cross-sector workshops, supported leadership development and co-designed learning programmes with community organisations. My teaching style connects theory with real-world practice, using case studies, discussion, problem-solving and action learning to help participants translate evidence and ideas into practical change.

Interests & speaking style

I am passionate about health inequalities, social justice, population health and how we turn evidence into meaningful change. I am particularly interested in why inequalities persist, how systems and services can unintentionally exclude people, and how better leadership, commissioning and prevention can improve people's lives. My lecturing style is practical, conversational and interactive. I use real-world examples, case studies, discussion and problem-solving rather than relying heavily on slides. I encourage learners to question assumptions, explore different perspectives and connect theory to their own experiences. I aim to create an inclusive learning environment where people feel comfortable contributing. Ultimately, I want learners to leave not just knowing more, but thinking differently and feeling confident about applying what they have learned.
