Teaching experience
I taught for over 2 years as coordinator of the Undergraduate Research Center at the University of California, Davis. Topics included how to write an abstract, academic conference preparation, applying the scientific method, applied biological science research, etc.
Interests & speaking style
Lecturing provides me with an outlet to connect with students and share my passion. Lecturing recharges my batteries and reminds me why I got into my field to begin with. My style is very conversational. I typically prepare lectures well in advance and plan hands-on activities and open discussion sections to help students get comfortable sharing in class. I like to show a bit of personality to show students that I am not an unapproachable person and that it is okay not to know the answer or to ask multiple questions to make sure they are understanding the content.
