Job ID: 375795 About the Job EDHD 1525W CEHD First Year Experience Instructor Instructors teaching EDHD 1525W have a commitment and passion for teaching first year students in the College of Education and Human Development. Instructors can expect to facilitate and develop a curriculum that invites students to identify, analyze, and critique important issues that impact our society and our communities. Instructors will work with students on developing skills needed to succeed both in college and in their lives after graduation. All EDHD 1525 FYE sections share the following common features: i) small classes taught by one instructor; ii) a common book and required common events related to the book that happen outside class time; and iii) student services activities and assignments designed to support holistic student development and pathways toward graduation. Each section explores a common question: Can one person make a difference? Each course section explores course elements in unique ways from a different lens, based on the expertise of the instructor. EDHD 1525W is designated as a writing intensive course, students will devote considerable time developing the skills necessary to become successful college-level writers. A variety of tools, including peer review, student instructor conferences, and in-class activities, will help students hone their writing skills. Students will practice writing in different contexts, ranging from short, low stakes writing to longer, more formal writing assignments. Through both shorter, low stakes writing and formal writing assignments, students will practice writing in different contexts. Core Responsibilities:Training and Development: Instructors of EDHD 1525W are required to attend once monthly 60 minute virtual development discussions September - December.Summer training and development workshops are intended to directly support course/syllabus development. Each instructor will attend 3 ninety minute summer training work
