About this position
The salary for the Teaching Assistant position is $18.00/hr. Teaching Assistants will be supervised by the Administrative Director. Attend weekly Course Director/Teaching Assistant meetings. Proctor all quiz and exam sessions, including Comprehensive and make-up exams. Work with academic advisors to identify students who need assistance. Assist other TAs whenever needed. Learn how to work the video recording equipment in E-501. Learn how to work with Zoom. Learn how to operate Canvas. Provide information at the start of the semester to the internet students about procedures and software. Conduct weekly check in of assigned internet students. Provide the list of internet students who did not check in that week to the Senior TA. Each TA will be assigned blocks of Medical Physiology and Translational Physiology to coordinate each semester. Attend all lectures. Work with the Block directors to coordinate Learning Objectives, weekly quizzes, block exams, and other materials. Reach out to all faculty lecturing ahead of time. Update both Canvas and Google calendars with all lectures and events. Update Canvas with the title of each lecture, the name of lecturer, the relevant B&B chapter, the learning objectives, the PowerPoint files, and any other learning materials provided by the lecturer. Post all lecture video links as soon as possible. Input weekly quiz and exam questions into Canvas. Work with faculty on Turning Point questions for resident students. Host one office hour a week for resident students and one office hour a week for online students. During assigned Medical Physiology blocks, host a weekly review for student for Medical Physiology lectures. Host Translational Physiology reviews in a rotation with the other TAs. TAs will respond to student emails; alert Senior TA and Core Curriculum team about any student concerns.
