Carnegie Mellon University: Libraries: ETC Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States Description: The Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for part-time, Special Faculty positions at the ETC. While preferred, an advanced degree is not required for candidates with extensive professional experience in one of the program's focus areas (gaming, location based entertainment, experimental media, VR/AR/XR, immersive content). The ETC is interested in those individuals that hold some industry experience, with an emphasis on current professional pipeline production practices, and a basis in design fundamentals. Ideal candidates for this position will have an active interest in gaming, computer science, AI, robotics, and computer graphics as it is applied on teams in both games and interactive media. Additionally, candidates should have a high level of expertise and have teaching or professional experience in this area. This is a special faculty appointment in category C(ii) as defined in the University's Special Faculty Appointments Policy, https://www.cmu.edu/policies/faculty/appointments-special- faculty.html. This position is renewable at the University's discretion, subject to the terms of the Special Faculty Appointments Policy. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, supervising student projects, and critiquing student work. Your responsibilities will include: They will be expected to devote an average of 5 hours per week to this role throughout the academic year, and will report directly to the Director of the Entertainment Technology Center Advise student projects and provide constructive criticism on project materials; Conduct code reviews with teams interested in deeper discussions on their software artifacts, which often utilize frameworks dependent on project needs; Qualifications: We are seeking a professional who minimally holds a Bachelor's (or MS) in a relevant discipline and has proven industrial
