Part-Time Faculty: PHI 197: Philosophy - Human Nature (Fall 2026) Location: Syracuse, NY Pay Range: $1,483 - $2,000 per credit hour Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified. FLSA Status: Exempt Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:45pm - 2:05pm Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:45pm - 5:05pm Office hours required. Job Type: Part Time Rank: PTI/Adjunct Campus: Unionized Position Code: UA Job Description: The Philosophy Department in the College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a part-time instructor of Philosophy to teach 2 sections of PHI 197, Human Nature, a 3 credit course during spring Fall 2026. This course meets in-person on the SU campus. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment Course Description: Philosophical theories of human nature, their underlying metaphysical claims, and their ethical consequences. Qualifications:ABD or PhD in Philosophy. Job Specific Qualifications: Not Applicable Responsibilities: The duties associated with the teaching assignment include:Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing department forms for student evaluations.
