JOB OPENING ID: 282877 MODES OF WORK Onsite REGULAR/TEMPORARY: Regular ORGANIZATIONAL GROUP: Flint Cas DEPARTMENT: Flint Fine & Performing Arts Responsibilities* Minimum salary for the Fall 2026 appointment is $2,040, based on an 8% effort appointment. The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the LEO Lecturer I level for Fall 2026 (August 24 through December 31, 2026). The instructor will provide weekly individual applied string bass lessons and supervise an independent study in string pedagogy during Fall 2026. Based on enrollment, this position also carries the potential to teach in Winter 2027. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate repertoire, developing the student?s performance and pedagogical skills, preparing the student for a senior recital at the end of Winter 2027, and participating in juries or other Music Program assessments as required. Position Description: Instruction will be delivered in person on the UM-Flint campus. The student has two semesters of applied string bass study remaining and will present a senior recital at the end of Winter 2027. The instructor will establish a mutually agreeable weekly lesson schedule and coordinate with the Music Program as needed. Required Qualifications* Prospective candidates must possess a master?s degree in music with string bass as the primary instrument, or equivalent professional experience. Evidence of successful string bass performance and teaching experience is required. Candidates must be able to teach in person at UM-Flint. Desired Qualifications* A doctoral degree or progress toward a doctoral degree in string bass performance or a related field is preferred.
