Position Summary The Department of Music invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Violin / Concertmaster within the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This faculty position will teach applied violin lessons, will serve as Concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Incarnate Word, and may also be asked to teach other courses or coach ensembles (e.g., string quartet). Responsibilities also include recruitment and may include attendance at departmental studio hour and instrumental seminar, as needed, on Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned. Essential Functions Basic Concertmaster Duties: Participate in all rehearsals and concerts of the Orchestra of the Incarnate Word. Fulfill duties typical of the concertmaster of a student / community orchestra in coordination with the ensemble's music director. Basic Instructional Duties: Prepare course outlines and teach based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive applied lessons and/or lectures, depending on teaching assignment. Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses. Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
