The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) at the University of Virginia invites applications for a part-time Wage Lecturer position. The successful candidate will collaborate with DMSE faculty to develop a new course, Processing of Polymeric Materials, and subsequently teach the course as a Special Topics elective for undergraduate students during the Spring 2027 semester. The appointment is expected to begin during the Fall 2026 semester (September 2026). Total compensation for the appointment is $7,000. ResponsibilitiesDeveloping, preparing, and distributing course materials Delivering classroom instruction and maintaining scheduled contact hours Holding office hours and meeting with students as scheduled Evaluating student performance through grading and assessment Providing student advising and mentoring Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Minimum QualificationsPh.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a closely related field Demonstrated teaching experience and/or relevant expertise in the related subject area.
