33286BR Communication Studies Position Overview Communication Studies with the University of Kansas seeks applicants for part-time and full-time lecturers to teach undergraduate level courses in Public Speaking (COMS 130), Public Speaking Honors (COMS 131), Interpersonal Communication (COMS 144), Interpersonal Communication Honors (COMS 145), Professional Public Speaking (COMS 322) and any other undergraduate classes as determined by the Chair of Communication Studies. Lecturers are non-tenure-track members of the faculty whose primary role is instruction. Lecturer contracts will be committed on an academic year basis for a 1-year appointment as determined by the Chair. Lecturers can expect to teach in the fall and/or the spring semesters. The course load is 1-4 courses a semester at the undergraduate level determined by need and budget considerations by the Chair of Communication Studies. There is a possibility that selected lecturers could be reappointed for subsequent years if their teaching performances are strong. This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start date of the position. Job Description 100% Instructional Duties:Teach 1-4 undergraduate-level courses per semester as determined by the chair, a total of 3 credit hours per class. Prepare for and attend all class meetings. Provide timely feedback and interaction with students. Provide instruction for courses. Administer assignments, tests, evaluate student work, assign grades.
