Course Description: Introduces the theory and practice of modern protein biochemistry. Covers bacterial transformation, antibiotic selection, heterologous protein expression, cell harvesting, cell lysis, centrifugation, affinity chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography, hydrophobic-interaction chromatography, dialysis, ultrafiltration, protein precipitation, desalting, bioconjugation, SDS-PAGE, UREA-PAGE, densitometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, western blotting, enzyme activity assays, and in-vitro translation. Minimum qualifications: A Master of Science in Chemistry Experience teaching chemistry at the college level Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred qualifications: A Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry Experience teaching a course in analytical chemistry or instrumental analysis. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
