Job Summary/Basic Function Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a part-time affiliated instructor to teach one or two sections of Statistics for the Social Sciences during the Fall 2026 semester. The sections available meet at the following days/times: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, 9:30 AM - 10:20 AM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, 10:30 AM - 11:20 AM This is a required course for students majoring in Business and Management, Psychology, and Sociology. Each of these programs offers the course, and while each leans toward their own disciplinary conventions as reflected in the catalog descriptions in the bullet points below, students may take any version of the course in order to satisfy the requirement. MGMT 141 Statistics for the Social Sciences PSY 141 Statistics for the Social Sciences SOC 141 Statistics for the Social Sciences The openings in our schedule are currently listed under Psychology (PSY 141). However, the possibility exists to teach the course within Sociology (SOC 141) or Business and Management (MGMT 141). Please note: Catalog descriptions are intended to provide applicants with a general sense of the intellectual scope of each course. Instructors will have access to previous syllabi, but are also welcome and encouraged to make each course their own in ways that align with their existing knowledge, strengths, and prior experience, as well as departmental expectations. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that fosters meaningful student-faculty interaction. Creating a course syllabus (with assistance, if desired) and ensuring it is provided to students and posted on the course's Canvas site. Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other required course materials before classes begin. Grading assignments in a timely manner and posting grades in Canvas.
