Job ID: 374881 About the Job This role provides instruction and advising related to course participation and student learning objectives to students enrolled in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Programs. The individual in this role also engages in efforts to fulfill the mission of the School of Social Work by developing teaching materials, exams, and assignments. Individuals in this role must have the capacity to demonstrate ethical social work practice to students. Individuals in this role are required to use electronic educational technology to communicate with students and other faculty, grade assignments and exams, and submit student grades. While the majority of instruction is delivered in person, individuals in this role are expected to utilize the learning management system, Canvas, to communicate with students and to deliver supplementary instruction. Individuals not familiar with Canvas and other education technology must be willing to learn how to use this technology in order to meet the needs of students. Individuals in this role are expected to collaborate with other faculty and to follow School of Social Work and University policies. Typically, these appointments are made semester by semester and employment is contingent on the course meeting its enrollment target. This posting is designed to establish a "pool" of instructors. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged but will be reviewed when such openings occur throughout the academic year. These are temporary, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) positions as Teaching Specialist or Lecturer, paid on a per course basis for the School of Social Work (SSW) at the University of Minnesota.
