About this position
Seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Music Appreciation, an introductory course designed for students with no prior music background. The course introduces students to the basic elements of music and develops listening skills through guided musical experiences. Responsibilities include: Consideration of various elements of music, a chronological study of Western art music. Instructions that introduces non-musicians to fundamental music elements (melody, rhythm, harmony) active listening skills, and a survey of Western classical music history from the Middle Ages to the present. Covering world music, popular music genres, and composer studies, focusing on historical context and style identification. Communicating with students regarding lesson scheduling and expectations Collaborating, when needed, with theatre and musical theatre faculty Qualifications: BA or BFA in music or relevant experience
