KyCAD would like to announce a new position in the capacity of Adjunct Lecturer of Studio Art, a six-week course taking place Fall 2026, Session 2 (October 13-November 20, M-R 1:30-5pm). This position is open to Internal and External applications. Position Description: Under the direction of the Chair of Studio Art, the Adjunct Lecturer would have the opportunity to instruct STU 230: Making Methods: The Artisan: Ceramics. Compensation: Salary: $4,000 per 3 credit course Course Description: STU 230: Making Methods: The Artisan: Ceramics* 3 credits This course will be an introduction to the essential skills that are the foundation of sculptural practice. Through traditional processes and media, such as: metal fabrication, woodworking, mold-making and a historical, craft-based approaches to generating and understanding sculpture, the class will guide students toward hands-on practice. This class may focus on one or more of the skills above. "Thinking as making" is introduced as a founding concept and the class will work with representations of the natural world. The arts and crafts movement will be studied as a background to this class. *The course should emphasize hand-building techniques as the primary method of instruction. Wheel throwing may be incorporated as appropriate; however, because the College has a limited number of pottery wheels, it should not serve as the primary focus of the course. Responsibilities: Develop and teach to the objectives of the approved Submit syllabi and other instructional materials in a timely Maintain records of student academic progress and attendance, evaluate the level of achievement, and assign grades for the program. Complete an end-of-term art assessment form for the course, if Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, use the Academic Alert notification process.
