Adjunct Instructor for College WritingJob Title:Adjunct Instructor for College Writing Department: Arts & Humanities Reports to: Greg Swedberg Effective Date: 8/31/26 # of Direct Reports: 0 # of People Supported: 0 Job Description: Manhattanville University is seeking an adjunct professor to teach College Writing I (8/31/26 through 12/18/26). This course must be taught in-person.Please note that if the Fall semester is successful, there will be the possibility of future employment. Course Description: ENC.1001College Writing I This course provides an overview of critical thinking strategies and writing skills that are essential to successful, meaningful academic work at the college level and that facilitate informed citizenship in college and beyond. Students will be guided to develop critical literacy skills, including textual analysis, and formulate cogent arguments through frequent drafting and revision. To ensure students are writing accurately and coherently, they will focus on grammar, word usage, sentence structure, paragraph coherence, and rhetorical modes. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and teach well-organized classes and present other learning opportunities for students in accordance with student learning outcomes for the course. Comply with program requirements and curricular standards, such as grade breakdowns and required syllabi and/or course elements Create and share syllabus/syllabi with students and Dean's Office. This must be posted on the University's Learning Management Software (LMS), Brightspace. Regularly post assignment grades in Brightspace for students to track their academic progress. Communicate regularly with the Academic Writing Program Coordinator about course progress, as well as curricular and student needs Attend Academic Writing program meetings if and when possible Hold two hours of Office Hours for students.
