About this position

Teach Principles of Sociology courses in the Department of Behavioral Sciences under the Behavioral, Social Sciences and Global Learning Division. Courses may include: Principles of Sociology Social Problems Sociology of Race & Ethnicity Sociology of Homosexuality Sociology of Film Cultural Anthropology Physical Anthropology Family Urban Sociology Sociology of Organizations Criminology Juvenile Delinquency. Courses may be offered at any of the BHCC campuses, satellite campuses, partner sites, or instructional sites, including but not limited to Chelsea, Malden High School, Freedom House, and Chelsea High School. Requirements: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Sociology or related field. Evidence of engagement in culturally responsive pedagogies. Experience with high impact teaching and learning practices (examples: undergraduate research, community engagement, critical pedagogies, learning communities). Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population. Must be available to teach at to Chelsea, Malden High School, Freedom House, and Chelsea High School. We are seeking faculty to teach one or more of the following courses: Principles of Sociology Social Problems Sociology of Race & Ethnicity Sociology of Homosexuality Sociology of Film Cultural Anthropology Physical Anthropology Family Urban Sociology Sociology of Organizations Criminology Juvenile Delinquency Preferred Requirements: Community college teaching experience preferred. Our students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed. While not required, the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish or other languages is preferred.
