About this position
Position Summary: Mount Mary University invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor of English to teach first-year composition and related writing courses. The successful candidate will teach one or more sections of first-year writing as part of a cohorted model. Adjunct faculty are expected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain regular communication with students, assess student learning effectively, and collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University. Primary Responsibilities: Provide high-quality instruction to students Effectively assess student learning Maintain regular communication with students using both email and Mount Mary University's LMS Collaborate with department faculty to support student success and the mission of Mount Mary University Participate in group assessment for the composition program Skills and Experience: Familiarity with current composition pedagogy and student-centered pedagogy Experience working with students from a wide range of backgrounds, including first-generation college students, multilingual writers, and students from historically underrepresented communities Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duties satisfactorily.
