Job Type: Part time Job Number: JR101674 Location: No Office Location The Opportunity Lesley University's Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CMATH 1522 Introduction to Statistics; Fall Semester 2026; In-person, On-campus. The available sections are: Mondays/Wednesdays 11:10 am - 12:25 pm Tuesdays/Fridays 11:10 am - 12:25 pm Tuesdays/Thursdays 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm Course Description: This course provides a general introduction to the fundamental concepts of probability and descriptive statistics. Students will learn methods for data collection, calculation, display, and analysis. The course emphasizes the advantages and limitations of statistical methods in investigating contemporary issues across science, health, education, management, and the social sciences. A research project involving descriptive statistics is required. Qualities and Capabilities A successful candidate will have:Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field (required); PhD or terminal degree (preferred) Successful experience teaching mathematics courses at the undergraduate level Experience supporting students with diverse academic backgrounds and levels of mathematical preparation Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and equitable teaching practices Experience in constructivist inquiry-based learning with the ability to teach mathematical concepts in ways that are accessible, relevant, and engaging Excellent verbal and communication skills Experience using learning management systems and educational technology to support teaching and learning Why Lesley Located in the heart of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lesley University is highly regarded for its graduate and undergraduate programs in the human arts of education, the arts, and applied social sciences.
