Job Type: Part timeJob Number: JR101683 Location: No Office Location The Opportunity Lesley University's department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CCOMM 1500 - Intro to Communication; Fall Semester 2026; Mondays/Wednesdays from 8:00 - 9:15 am; In-person, On-campus. Course Description: This course provides an introductory survey of the study of communication and examines how humans create and interpret meaning through language, symbols, gestures, and other forms of expression. This course explores foundational and contemporary communication research to examine how communication develops, evolves across generations, and shapes interactions among individuals, groups, families, workplaces, and communities. Topics include the development of communication in early childhood, the influence of gender identity, culture, social class, and ethnicity on communication, the relationship between language and thought, the social meaning of language, and the impact of digital technologies on contemporary communication practices. Qualities & Capabilities A successful candidate will have: Master's degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Rhetoric, or a closely related field (required); PhD or terminal degree (preferred) Experience teaching communications or related courses at the undergraduate level Demonstrated knowledge of communication theory and interpersonal, intercultural, and contemporary communication research areas Ability to facilitate meaningful classroom discussions on diverse perspectives and contemporary issues Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and equitable teaching practices Experience in constructivist inquiry-based learning with the ability to teach concepts in ways that are accessible, relevant, and engaging Experience using learning management systems and educational technology to support teaching and learning Excellent verbal and communication skills Why Lesle
