Job Description The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to graduate-level teaching and instruction in environmental and occupational health, with emphasis on policy, risk assessment and management, biohazards, and emergency response. We are interested in candidates with experience teaching graduate-level environmental and occupational health courses and using online learning management systems. The successful applicant will be able to engage students in applied learning and facilitate understanding of complex environmental health concepts. Experience with interactive and collaborative teaching methods, including problem-based learning, team-based activities, and discussion-based instruction, is preferred. • Specific areas of subject matter may include one or more of the following: • Environmental and occupational health principles including epidemiology • Environmental health policy and regulatory approaches • Risk assessment and risk management • Biohazards, infectious disease control, and exposure prevention • Emergency and disaster preparedness and response in environmental and occupational settings Candidates who demonstrate the ability to integrate current issues and real-world applications into their teaching, and who can foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment, are strongly encouraged to apply.
